“Tegeta Truck & Bus” found an original approach to popularizing reading among the inhabitants of Georgian villages. The Mobile Library, or “Bookmobile” is a multifunctional truck that will be visiting different regions of Georgia to fill up the empty shelves of village libraries. The project was initiated by Netgazeti and Batumelebi, and is being carried out with the support of the Embassy of Japan.
Further, Tegeta will be providing scholarships for village librarians to raise their motivation to popularize reading themselves, while, for locals, Tegeta will be organizing interesting meetings with famous Georgian writers, poets and public figures, in which they will discuss numerous topics related to literature, culture, history, science, and more.
At the first stage, the mobile library will be visiting villages in the Adjara region, after which it will head to other Georgian regions.
